Thirsk Races provide excellent public facilities for racegoers, superb hospitality facilities and catering, with good, competitive flat racing at the heart of every race meetings. It is also a wonderful family day out (with lots of children's entertainment in the summer). The racecourse is within walking distance of Meadowcroft B&B (less than 10 mins walk).

There’s lots to do in and around Thirsk. There is the Thirsk Museum in town.

The Yorkshire Dales are only a short drive away - picturesque villages, breathtaking limestone scenery - gorges, coves and pavements - rugged hills with stunning summit views, including the Three Peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. Great for mountain biking and horse riding too. The scenery is breathtaking and just waiting to be explored.

Nidderdale AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of England and it is on our doorstep. Less frantic than the Yorkshire Dales yet next door to the National Park. Brimham Rocks with its stunning views and amazing rock formations. Also visit the pretty market town of Pateley Bridge. Stunning scenery and walks and quiet too.

York is famous for its quaint cobbled streets known as the 'Shambles'.Other attractions including York Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, the Yorkshire Museum, Cliffords Tower (shown left) and the National Railway Museum. The award winning York Racecourse holds events throughout the year.

The famous spa town of Harrogate is a 30 minutes drive. Famous for its Royal Baths, Betty's Tearooms and Valley Gardens,  as well as the huge expanse of protected land around the town centre, known as The Stray. Ablaze with flowers at all times of the year, it has to be one of the prettiest towns in the UK.  There are a superb choice of shops, art galleries restaurants & individual boutiques. Something to interest everyone.

Nearby Ripon is well worth a visit for its magnificent Cathedral and Racecourse which has held events for over 300 years. Close to Ripon is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Park.
